Soap toxicity in pets

Soap usually have low toxicity in veterinary species. Symptoms are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, drooling. More serious but uncommon complications are oral or esophageal burns and GI bleeds.

May be irritants causing nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.

Gastrointestinal: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and gastritis, which may cause corrosive injury leading to drooling, dysphagia, epigastric pain, and bleeding.

Skin – dryness, dermatitis, and irritation.

Ocular – conjunctive erythema, irritation, pain, stinging, corneal ulcer may occur.

Emesis od not indicated.

Ocular – flush the eyes with saline or room temperature water.

Dermal - irrigate with room temperature water.

Typically, this can be managed at home. However, if your pet exhibits signs of distress, it's crucial to consult a veterinarian for guidance.
